14 Inspirational Quotations That Will Give You a Jolt
I’ve always loved a great, inspirational quotation. These are some of my favorites that have helped keep me inspired and on-purpose over the years. They remind me to live each day.
- “You know, we can’t get out of life alive! We can either die in the bleachers or die on the field. We might as well come down on the field and go for it!” – Les Brown
- “Try as much as possible to be wholly alive, with all your might, and when you laugh, laugh like hell and when you get angry, get good and angry. Try to be alive. You will be dead soon enough.” – William Saroyan
- “Keep your face always toward the sunshine – and shadows will fall behind you.” – Walt Whitman
- “Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.” – Plato
- Dalai Llama, when asked what surprised him most about humanity, said: “Man. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived.”
- “The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are.” – Joseph Campbell
- “Until one is committed there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favour all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his way. I have learned a deep respect of one of Goethe’s couplets: Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.” W.H. Murray
- “Live as you will have wished to have lived when you are dying.” – Christian Furchtegott Gellert
- “It is better to be hated for what you are than to be loved for what you are not.” – André Gide
- “I have spent my days stringing and unstringing my instrument, while the song I came to sing remains unsung to this day.” – Rabindranath Tagore
- “The goal isn’t to live forever, the goal is to create something that will.” – Chuck Palahniuk
- “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain
- “There are risks and costs to action. But they are far less than the long range risks of comfortable inaction.” – John F. Kennedy
- “The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.” – Jack London
